Tashawwaqat ruhi

تَشَوَّقَتْ رُوحِي لِشَطِّ الْوَادِي
فَهَا أَنَا يَا رَبِّي خُذ بِيَدِي
أَبِيتُ اللَّيَالِي جَهْرًا أُنَادِي
فَقَلْبِي يَذُوبُ مِنَ الْكَمَدِ
رَمَانِي الْعُذَّالُ بِفَرْطِ الْهَوَى
فَقَالُوا جُنِنْتَ فَوَا جَلَدِي
مَحَبَّةُ اللَّهِ نَارٌ مُوقَدَةٌ
تُبِيدُ بِالرُّوحِ وَبِالْجَسَدِ
فَذَرَّةُ حُبِّ لِلْمَوْلَى الرَّحِيمِ
تُزِيلُ الْهُمُومَ يَوْمَ التَّنَادِي

Tashawwaqat rūḥī li-shaṭṭi Al-wādī
Fa-hā anā yā Rabbī khud bi-yadī
Abītu Al-layālī jahrā unādī
Fa-qalbī yadhūbu mina Al-kamadi
Ramānī Al-ʿudhdhālu bi-farṭi Al-hawā
Fa-qālū juninta fa-wā jaladī
Maḥabbatu Allāhi nārun mūqadatun
Tubīdu bi-Ar-rūḥi wa-bi-Al-jasadi
Fadharratu ḥubbi li-Al-Mawlā Ar-Raḥīmi
Tuzīlu Al-humūma yawma At-tanādī

My soul yearned for the shores of the valley,
So here I am, O my Lord, take my hand.
I spend the nights openly calling,
As my heart melts from sorrow and grief.
The reproachers blamed me for my intense passion,
And said, "You've gone mad!"-Oh, my endurance!
The love of Allah is an ignited fire,
That consumes both the soul and the body.
A single speck of love for the Merciful Master,
Removes all worries on the Day of Calling (Judgment).
