Nasamātu hawāka

English translation

The breeze of your air has a fragrance,
By which hearts live and thrive.
People are only those who know you,
And the rest are mere savages.
They entered this world poor.
And as they came, so they left.
A people who did good deeds,
And climbed the steps of glory.
O full moon, you have given; we will not depart
From the door of love, so shall we enter?
When will I attain your union, my hope?
The melodies of love echo joyfully.
They drank from the cups of their contemplation,
Purely from your love, unmixed.
They understood the meaning—they are the meaning, and in the remembrance of Allah,
their tongues are constantly engaged.
