Qaṣīdatun li-ʾAʿrābī

Transliteration

Yā khayra man dufinat fī at-turabi aʿẓumuhu
Fa-ṭāba min ṭībihinna al-qāʿu wa al-akamu
Nafsī fidāʾun li-qabrin anta sākinuhu
Fīhi al-ʿafāfu wa fīhi al-jūdu wa al-karamu
Anta al-ḥabību alladhī turjā shafāʿatuhu
ʿInda aṣ-ṣirāṭi idhā mā zallati al-qadamu

English translation

O best of those whose blessed body was buried in the earth,
From whose fragrance the lowlands and hills became sweet.
My soul be ransomed for the grave in which you dwell,
In it is purity, and in it are generosity and nobility.
You are the beloved whose intercession is hoped for,
At the Bridge (Sirat) when feet slip.
