Al-Subh al-Bada

الصُّبْحُ بَدَا مِن طَلْعَتِهِ
وَاللَّيْلُ دَجَا مِن وَفْرَتِهِ
فَاقَ الرُّسُلَ فَضْلًا وَعُلَا
أَهْدَى السُّبُلَ بِدَلَالَتِهِ
كَنْزُ الْكَرَمِ مَوْلَى النِّعَمِ
هَادِي الْأُمَمِ بِشَرِيعَتِهِ
أَزْكَى النَّسَبِ أَعْلَى الْحَسَبِ
كُلُّ الْعَرَبِ فِي خِدْمَتِهِ
سَعَتِ الشَّجَرُ نَطَقَ الْحَجَرُ
شَقَّ الْقَمَرُ بِإِشَارَتِهِ
مُحَمَّدُنَا هُوَ سَيِّدُنَا
وَالْعِزُّ لَنَا بِإِجَابَتِهِ
جِبْرِيلُ أَتَى لَيْلَ الْأَسْرَاءِ
وَالرَّبُّ دَعَاهُ لِحَضْرَتِهِ

Aṣ-ṣubḥu badā min ṭalʿatihi
Wal-laylu dajā min wafratihi
Fāqa Ar-rusula faḍlan wa-ʿulā
ʾAhdā As-subula bi-dalālatihi
Kanzu Al-karami mawlā An-niʿami
Hādī Al-ʾumami bi-sharīʿatihi
ʾAzkā An-nasabi ʾaʿlā Al-ḥasabi
Kullu Al-ʿarabi fī khidmatihi
Saʿati Ash-shajaru naṭaqa Al-ḥajaru
Shaqqa Al-qamaru bi-ʾishāratihi
Muḥammadunā huwa sayyidunā
Wal-ʿizzu lanā bi-ʾijābatihi
Jibrīlu ʾatā layla Al-ʾisrāʾi
War-rabbu daʿāhu li-ḥaḍratihi

The dawn appeared through his radiance,
And the night grew dark from his locks’ abundance.
He surpassed all messengers in grace and rank,
Guiding to the paths of truth by his guidance.

A treasure of generosity, the master of blessings,
A guide of nations through his sacred law.
Of the purest lineage, of the noblest descent,
All of the Arabs are in his service.

Trees hastened toward him, stones spoke for him,
The moon was split by his signal.
Muhammad is our master and our leader,
And our honor lies in following his call.

Gabriel came on the Night of Ascension,
When the Lord invited him to His Presence.
