Ya Habibi Kayf Ashqa

يَا حَبِيبِي كَيْفَ أَشْقَى وَأُضَام
وَفُؤَادِي قَدْ بَدَا بَادِي الظَّلَام
فَتَحَنَّنْ وَامْحُ عَنِّي مَا بَدَا
كُلُّ نُورٍ مِنْ سَنَا خَيْرِ الْأَنَامِ
مَا لِحِبِّي إِنْ يَغِيبْ عَنْ نَاظِرِي
تَرَكَ الْقَلْبَ لَدَيْهِ مُسْتَهَام
كُلُّ حُسْنٍ فِي الْوَرَى يَبْدُو لَنَا
مِنْ جَمَالِ المُصْطَفَى دَاعِي السَّلَام

Yā ḥabībī kayfa ashqā wa-uḍām
Wa-fuʾādī qad badā bādī aẓ-ẓalām
Fa-taḥannan wamḥu ʿannī mā badā
Kullu nūrin min sanā khayri al-ʾanāmi
Mā li-ḥibbī in yaghīb ʿan nāẓirī
Taraka al-qalba ladayhi mustahām
Kullu ḥusnin fī al-warā yabdū lanā
Min jamāli al-Muṣṭafā dāʿī as-salām

O my beloved, how can I suffer and be oppressed,
When my heart has appeared in the depths of darkness?
So have mercy and wipe away from me what has appeared,
Every light is from the radiance of the best of creation.
What is there for my beloved if he is absent from my sight?
He has left the heart bewildered in his presence.
Every beauty in this world becomes clear to us,
From the beauty of the Chosen One, the Caller to Peace.
