Talama Ashku Gharami

طَالَمَا أَشْكُو غَرَامِي يَا نُورَ الْوُجُودْ
وَأُنَادِي يَا تِهَامِي يَا مَعْدِنَ الْجُودْ
مُنْيَتِي أَقْصَى مَرَامِي أَحْظَى بِالشُّهُودْ
وَأَرَى بَابَ السَّلَامِ يَا زَاكِي الْجُدُودْ
يَا طِرَازَ الْكَوْنِ إِنِّي عَاشِقْ مُسْتَهَامْ
مُغْرَمٌ وَالْمَدْحُ فَنِّي يَا بَدْرَ التَّمَامْ
إِصْرِفِ الْأَعْرَاضَ عَنِّي أَضْنَانِي الْغَرَامْ
فِيكَ قَدْ حَسَّنْتُ ظَنِّي يَا سَامِي الْعُهُودْ
يَا سِرَاجَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَا عَالِي الْجَنَابْ
يَا إِمَامَ الْأَتْقِيَاءِ إِنَّ قَلْبِي ذَابْ
وَعَلَيْكَ اللهُ صَلَّى رَبِّي ذُو الْجَلَالْ
يَكْفِي يَا نُورَ الْأَهِلَّةْ إِنَّ هَجْرِي طَالْ

ṭālamā ashku gharāmī yā nūra al-wujūd
wa-unādī yā tihāmī yā maʿdina al-jūd
munyatī aqṣā marāmī aḥẓā bi-ash-shuhūd
wa-arā bāba as-salāmī yā zākī al-judūd
yā ṭirāza al-kawnī innī ʿāshiq mustahām
mughramun wa-al-madḥu fannī yā badra at-tamām
iṣrifi al-aʿrāḍa ʿannī aḍnānī al-gharām
fīka qad ḥassantu ẓannī yā sāmī al-ʿuhūd
yā sirāja al-anbiyāʾ yā ʿālī al-janāb
yā imāma al-atqiyāʾ inna qalbī dhāb
wa-ʿalayka Allāhu ṣallā rabbī dhū al-jalāl
yakfī yā nūra al-ahilla inna hajrī ṭāl

For how long have I complained of my longing, O Light of Existence,
And I call upon you, O Tihami, O Source of Generosity.
My wish, my highest goal, is to attain the vision,
And to behold the Gate of Peace, O Pure of Lineage.

O Ornament of the Universe, I am a lover lost in passion,
Consumed, and praise is my art, O Full Moon of Perfection.
Turn away reproach from me, for love has exhausted me,
In you I’ve placed my good hope, O Keeper of Noble Covenants.

O Lamp of the Prophets, O Lofty in Station,
O Leader of the God-fearing, my heart has melted away.
Upon you be God’s blessings, my Lord, the Majestic,
Suffice it, O Light of the Crescents, that my separation has been long.
